Municipal inspection release before energizing
How do we make sure service is energized only after the municipal inspection release is received and matched to the job?
Make the release a gate on the order, not a note in a folder. For every new connection, upgrade or reconnection after work on the customer's side, Callvu sets the inspection release as a prerequisite on the service order, receives releases from the municipalities (through their electronic feeds, their portals, or an inspector's email or fax read on arrival), matches each release to the job by the address, the permit number and the scope, chases a missing release from the electrician and the inspector on the in-service date clock, routes a release that does not match the job or a jurisdiction that issues none to the new business desk in the Decision Desk, and writes the matched release to the order in the work management system and CIS so the crew is dispatched only when the gate is met.

The problem today
The crew energized the service on the builder's word; the inspection had failed that morning for a missing ground.
The municipal inspection release is the handshake between the authority having jurisdiction and the utility: the customer's wiring passed, the utility may energize. It arrives by a dozen routes (an electronic feed from one city, a portal from another, an inspector's email, a fax, a sticker on the panel), and it is matched to the job by whoever sees it. A release filed against the wrong address, or a job energized on a verbal, is a safety event and a liability.
The utility's service rules and the electrical code require the release before energizing; the municipality's release carries the permit number, the address and the scope; the job carries the same. The match is a rule, the gate is on the order, and the chase when the release is missing goes to the electrician who requested the inspection and the inspector who performs it.
A crew that cannot be dispatched until the gate is met is the control.
How it runs
From the requestto the system of record.
A service order that requires an inspection release (a new connection, an upgrade, a reconnection after customer-side work) is created. Callvu sets the gate and watches for the release.
- Municipality (authority having jurisdiction)
- Issues the release through its feed, portal or inspector.
- Electrician or contractor
- Requests the inspection and is chased when the release is missing.
- New business desk
- Decides mismatches and jurisdictions without releases in the Decision Desk.
- Field crew
- Is dispatched only when the gate is met.
- Callvu
- Sets the gate, receives and reads releases, matches, chases, routes and writes.
Set the gate
The order's type and the jurisdiction set the release requirement (the inspection type, the issuing authority, the channel it uses) as a prerequisite on the service order; the in-service date sets the clock for the release.
Receive and match
Releases arrive through the municipality's electronic feed or portal, or as an inspector's email or fax read on arrival; each is matched to the job by the address, the permit number, the scope (the service, the panel, the meter base) and the date; a matched release clears the gate by rule.
Chase and verify, and decide
A release not received as the in-service date approaches is chased from the electrician (who requests the inspection) and the inspector's office with the job's details; a release that does not match the job (a different address or scope, a partial release, a failed inspection), a jurisdiction that issues no written release, or a customer-side change after the release goes to the new business desk in the Decision Desk with the release and the job and only the allowed outcomes (accept with the correction documented, require a corrected release, require a re-inspection, or hold).
Write back and dispatch
The matched release with its number, date and scope is written to the order in the work management system and CIS, the gate shows met, the crew is dispatched for the energize or the meter set, and the release is retained with the job for the asset's record.
Where it ends: Every energize ran only after a release matched to the job by rule, missing releases were chased from the people who could produce them, mismatches were decided, and the order in the work management system and CIS holds the release. The Decision Trace shows the gate, the match and any decision; the Audit Trace shows the receipt, the chases and the dispatch with time.
Runtime enforcement
What is enforcedwhile the work runs.
The regulations preloaded in Callvu Studio and the bank's own policies, applied as steps that run, not lines in a binder. A step that breaks a rule does not run, so a completed run was compliant.
The handoff
Between the front doorand the back office.
The front door
The municipality's feed, portal, email or fax; the electrician is chased through a link.
The back office
The new business desk decides only mismatches; the crew is dispatched by the gate.
The Decision Desk
- A release that does not match the job, a jurisdiction without written releases or a customer-side change after the release goes to the new business desk in the Decision Desk with the release and the job and only accept with the correction, require a corrected release, require a re-inspection, or hold.

Questions
What buyers ask next,answered plainly.
How is a release matched to the job?
By the address, the permit number, the scope and the date, by rule; a release that does not match goes to the new business desk.
What if the release is late?
The electrician who requested the inspection and the inspector's office are chased with the job's details on the in-service clock; the crew is not dispatched until the gate is met.
Does a verbal release count?
No. A jurisdiction that issues no written release is an exception the desk decides with the policy, documented on the job.
