Temporary construction service
How do we set temporary construction service for a contractor with the inspection approval checked, the deposit and terms handled, and the service removed when the job ends?
Run temporary service as an account with a start, a gate and an end date. Callvu takes the contractor's request (the site, the job, the service size, the duration, the billing party), chases the municipal inspection approval of the temporary pole and the permit through the inspector's channel, verifies the contractor's account standing and applies the tariff's deposit and the temporary service charges, routes a request outside the standard sizes or on a site with facility constraints to engineering in the Decision Desk, writes the temporary account and the set order to CIS and the work management system with the removal date, and chases the contractor before the end date to extend or remove, with the final bill on removal.

The problem today
The temporary pole was energized for fourteen months, billed to a contractor who had finished the job in four, and nobody had an end date.
Temporary construction service is the simplest service the utility provides and the easiest to lose track of: a pole set on a verbal request, energized without the inspection approval, billed to a contractor who moves on, left standing until a neighbor complains. The tariff's temporary service charges, the deposit and the removal are written down; the process that applies them often is not.
The tariff sets the temporary service terms (the charges for the set and the removal, the deposit, the duration limits and the extensions), the inspection approval is required before energizing, the contractor's standing and the billing party must be clear, and the end date is the control that keeps the pole from becoming permanent.
A temporary service with a removal date on the order is one that ends.
How it runs
From the requestto the system of record.
A contractor or builder requests temporary construction service online, by phone or through the contractor portal. Callvu opens the request on the site.
- Contractor
- Requests the service, provides the permit and the pole details, pays the deposit and the charges, and confirms the end or an extension.
- Municipal inspector
- Approves the temporary installation through their channel.
- Engineering and field operations
- Decide exceptions and set and remove the service.
- Callvu
- Captures, chases the inspection, applies the tariff, routes, writes and chases the end.
Capture the request
The site (the address or the parcel, the nearest facilities), the job, the service size and voltage, the pole or pedestal location, the expected duration, the contractor's account and the billing party are captured on a secure screen; the contractor's standing (an existing account, deposits, arrears) is prefilled.
Chase and verify
The electrical permit and the municipal inspection approval of the temporary installation are requested through the inspector's channel and the contractor's link, read on arrival and matched to the site and the job; the tariff's deposit and the set and removal charges are applied and collected on a secure screen.
Decide
A standard temporary service on an approved installation is scheduled by rule; a non-standard size, a site with facility constraints, a contractor with a poor standing, or a duration beyond the tariff's limit goes to engineering or the credit desk in the Decision Desk with the request and only the allowed outcomes (approve, approve with conditions, require a larger deposit, or decline with the reason).
Write back and chase the end
The temporary account with the start date, the removal date and the charges, and the set order are written to CIS and the work management system; before the removal date the contractor is chased to confirm removal or request an extension within the tariff's limit; the removal order follows, the final bill issues and the deposit is applied or refunded.
Where it ends: The temporary service was set only after the inspection approval, under the tariff's terms with the deposit collected, with a removal date on the order that was chased and executed, and CIS holds the account from start to final bill. The Decision Trace shows the inspection match, the tariff terms and any decision; the Audit Trace shows the request, the approval, the set, the chase and the removal with time.
Runtime enforcement
What is enforcedwhile the work runs.
The regulations preloaded in Callvu Studio and the bank's own policies, applied as steps that run, not lines in a binder. A step that breaks a rule does not run, so a completed run was compliant.
The handoff
Between the front doorand the back office.
The front door
Online, by phone or the contractor portal; the inspector through their channel.
The back office
Field operations set and remove from orders with the gate met; the desk stops tracking poles in a spreadsheet.
The Decision Desk
- A non-standard size, a constrained site, a poor contractor standing or a duration beyond the limit goes to engineering or the credit desk in the Decision Desk with the request and only approve, approve with conditions, require a larger deposit, or decline.

Questions
What buyers ask next,answered plainly.
What is required before the temporary service is energized?
The electrical permit and the municipal inspection approval of the temporary installation, matched to the site, plus the tariff's deposit and charges collected.
How long can temporary service last?
The tariff's maximum duration, with extensions within its limit; the removal date is on the order and the contractor is chased before it.
What happens at the end?
The removal order is executed, the final bill issues and the deposit is applied or refunded, all from the temporary account in CIS.
