HELOC draw request

How do we take a HELOC draw request, check availability and authorization, and write the draw to the core?

Make the draw a verified instruction. Callvu identifies the borrower, prefills the line (the credit limit, the available balance, the draw period's end, any freeze or reduction, the authorized signers), takes the draw request on a secure screen (the amount, the destination account or the payee, the timing), checks it against availability, the draw period, the minimum draw and the plan's terms, applies step-up verification for a destination outside the borrower's own accounts, routes an exception to the servicing analyst in the Decision Desk, and writes the draw to the core with the advance posted to the line and the funds sent.

The problem today

The draw was requested by one borrower, sent to an account the other had never seen, and the line was frozen the week before.

Today, without Callvu

A borrower calls to draw on their line. The agent takes the amount and the destination, keys an advance, and the funds go out. The line had been frozen for a value decline under a notice sent the week before; the plan requires both borrowers' authorization for a draw over a threshold; the destination was a new external account. Each was a check the agent did not have in front of them.

A draw is governed by the plan's terms under Regulation Z (the draw period, the minimum, the conditions for a freeze or reduction and what it suspends), the bank's authorization rules for the line, and the fraud controls for sending funds to an outside account. The core holds the limit and the available balance; the process should read them, not ask the agent to.

The draw is simple when the checks are in the process, and expensive when they are not.

How it runs

From the requestto the system of record.

A borrower requests a draw in any channel (the app, a call, a branch, a check on the line). Callvu identifies them and prefills the line.

Borrower
Requests the draw on a secure screen and completes step-up verification where required.
Servicing analyst
Decides exceptions in the Decision Desk.
Callvu
Prefills, checks, verifies, routes and writes.
  1. Prefill the line

The credit limit, the available balance, the draw period's end date, any freeze, reduction or hold, the authorized signers and their rules, the borrower's own accounts, and the plan's minimum draw are read from the core and presented on the secure screen.

  2. Take and check the request

The amount, the destination (the borrower's own account at the bank, an external account, a payee) and the timing are entered; the request is checked against availability, the draw period, the minimum, a freeze or reduction, and the authorization rules (a second borrower's approval where the plan requires); a destination outside the borrower's own accounts triggers step-up verification and the fraud checks.

  3. Decide exceptions

A draw within the rules is executed by rule; an exception (a draw during a freeze, a disputed authorization, a fraud flag, a draw over a threshold to a new external account) goes to the servicing analyst in the Decision Desk with the checks and only the allowed outcomes.

  4. Write back

The advance is written to the core against the line, the funds are sent to the destination through the payment rails, the borrower receives the confirmation, and the draw appears on the next periodic statement.

Where it ends: The draw was checked against the line's real state and the plan's terms, verified for its destination, and written to the core with the funds sent. The Decision Trace shows the checks and any exception decision; the Audit Trace shows the request, the verification and the write.

Runtime enforcement

What is enforcedwhile the work runs.

The regulations preloaded in Callvu Studio and the bank's own policies, applied as steps that run, not lines in a binder. A step that breaks a rule does not run, so a completed run was compliant.

The handoff

Between the front doorand the back office.

The front door

Any channel; the borrower requests on a secure screen with the line's state visible.

The back office

The analyst sees only exceptions; the core is written by the process.

The Decision Desk

  • A draw during a freeze, a disputed authorization, a fraud flag or a large draw to a new outside account goes to the servicing analyst in the Decision Desk with the checks and only the allowed outcomes.

Questions

What buyers ask next,answered plainly.

What is checked before a draw?

Availability against the limit, the draw period, the minimum draw, any freeze or reduction, and the plan's authorization rules, all read from the core at the moment of the request.

When is extra verification required?

For a destination outside the borrower's own accounts at the bank, with step-up verification and fraud screening before the funds are sent.

Can a draw be made on a frozen line?

No; a freeze or reduction stops the draw by rule, and the reinstatement path runs through the freeze process.
