Renters and condo policy purchase
How do we issue a renters or condo policy from the website or a call with the address, coverage choices, disclosures and payment captured once and the policy issued in the policy system?
Make the purchase a short, complete screen. Callvu prefills the address and the building data (the construction and protection class, the unit type, any landlord or association requirement on file), presents the coverage choices with the state's disclosures in plain terms, captures the applicant's answers, the signature and the payment on a secure screen, issues the policy by rule where it is inside the binding rules, routes the rare exception to the underwriter in the Decision Desk, and writes the issued policy to the policy system with the certificate the landlord or the association asked for. The problem today
A policy that should take four minutes took two calls, because the payment screen and the landlord's certificate lived in different systems.
A tenant needs renters insurance before move-in; the landlord wants a certificate naming them as an interested party. The website quote works until the payment, which redirects to a page that fails; the call center takes the card over the phone; the certificate is requested by email the next day. A simple product has a complicated purchase.
A renters or condo policy is simple in its data and strict in its form: the state's insurance code sets the disclosures and the application's representations, the binding rules set what can be issued without review, the payment must be captured in a way that keeps the card out of the agent's hands, and the interested party certificate must come from the policy system with the right wording. The purchase is one screen when the pieces are in one process.
The product's simplicity is the reason to finish it in one go.
How it runs
From the requestto the system of record.
A prospect starts a renters or condo quote on the website, in the app, by phone, or from a link a landlord or an association sends. Callvu opens the record and prefills it.
- Applicant
- Confirms the address, chooses coverages, signs and pays on a secure screen.
- Agent
- Sends the link on a call and sees the record.
- Landlord or association
- Receives the certificate naming them as an interested party.
- Callvu
- Prefills, presents the choices and disclosures, captures signature and payment, issues by rule, routes exceptions and writes.
Prefill the address and the building
The address resolves to the building data (construction, protection class, unit type) and to any landlord or association requirement on file (the required liability limit, the interested party wording); the applicant confirms the address and the move-in date.
Choose coverages with the disclosures
The personal property limit, the liability limit, the deductible, the loss of use and the optional coverages (scheduled items, water backup, earthquake where offered) are presented with the state's disclosures and the replacement cost explanation in plain terms; the premium updates as the applicant chooses.
Decide and issue
A risk inside the binding rules (the unit type, the limits, the loss history, the prior cancellations declared) issues by rule; an exception (a scheduled item above the limit, a prior loss above the threshold, a business use) goes to the underwriter in the Decision Desk with the record and only the allowed outcomes.
Sign, pay and write back
The application and the disclosures are signed on the applicant's phone, the payment (a card or a bank account, or automatic payments) is captured on a secure screen the agent never sees, the policy issues with its effective date, the policy and the documents are written to the policy system, and the interested party certificate is generated from it and sent to the landlord or the association.
Where it ends: The policy issued from one screen with the disclosures signed, the payment captured securely, and the landlord's certificate sent from the policy system. The Decision Trace shows the prefill, the binding rule check and any exception decision; the Audit Trace shows the choices, the signature, the payment and the issue.
Runtime enforcement
What is enforcedwhile the work runs.
The regulations preloaded in Callvu Studio and the bank's own policies, applied as steps that run, not lines in a binder. A step that breaks a rule does not run, so a completed run was compliant.
The handoff
Between the front doorand the back office.
The front door
The website, the app, a call with a link, or a landlord's or association's link; the applicant finishes on their phone.
The back office
The underwriter sees only exceptions; the policy system and the certificate run from the issue.
The Decision Desk
- A scheduled item above the limit, a prior loss above the threshold or a business use goes to the underwriter in the Decision Desk with the record and only issue, issue with an exclusion, or decline with the notice.

Questions
What buyers ask next,answered plainly.
How is the payment taken on a call?
The agent sends a link; the applicant enters the card or bank details on a secure screen the agent never sees, which keeps the call out of PCI scope.
How does the landlord get the certificate?
It is generated from the policy system at issue with the interested party wording and sent to the landlord or the association the applicant names.
Does anyone review the application?
Only the exceptions the binding rules flag, such as a scheduled item above the limit or a business use; everything else issues by rule.
