Deposit installment plan
How do we split a required deposit into installments the customer accepts on a secure screen, and write the schedule to billing?
Offer the installments the tariff allows and make the acceptance a screen. When a deposit is required, Callvu prefills the deposit decision and the amount from billing, computes the installment schedule the tariff allows (the number of installments, the first installment with the start of service, the rest on the following bills), presents the schedule with the terms (what happens if an installment is missed, the interest the deposit earns, the refund after good payment), captures the customer's acceptance, routes a request outside the tariff's installment terms or a customer in a protected status to the credit desk in the Decision Desk, and writes the schedule to the billing system so each installment appears on the bill and the deposit record tracks what has been paid.

The problem today
The customer was told the deposit was due in full before service, when the tariff had allowed installments all along.
A deposit can be the barrier between a household and its power. The tariff usually allows it to be paid in installments; the agent usually does not mention it, or offers a schedule from memory that billing cannot run. The customer who could have started service with a first installment delays, or pays in full by borrowing, and the utility has a complaint it could have avoided.
The tariff sets the installment terms: the number of installments (commonly two to four), when the first is due, the treatment of a missed installment, the interest that accrues on the amounts paid, and the refund after good payment. The schedule is a computation and the acceptance is a consent; the billing system must hold the schedule to bill it.
The installment offer should be the screen the customer sees when the deposit is decided.
How it runs
From the requestto the system of record.
A deposit is required (through the deposit and credit decision process) and the tariff allows installments, or a customer with a deposit due asks to split it. Callvu opens the installment offer.
- Customer
- Reviews the schedule and the terms and accepts on a secure screen.
- Credit desk
- Decides requests outside the tariff's terms and protected status cases in the Decision Desk.
- Callvu
- Prefills, computes, presents, captures acceptance, routes and writes.
Prefill and compute
The deposit decision, the amount, the basis and the start date are prefilled from the billing system; the installment schedule is computed under the tariff (the number of installments, the first with the start of service or the next bill, the rest on the following bills, each installment's amount) with the interest accrual and the refund review date.
Present and accept
The schedule is presented in plain terms with each installment's date and amount, the total, the consequence of a missed installment under the tariff (the balance of the deposit becoming due, or the account treated as past due with the notice rules), the interest the deposit earns, and the refund after the tariff's period of good payment; the customer accepts on a secure screen in whichever channel they are in.
Decide
A schedule within the tariff's terms proceeds by rule; a request for more installments than the tariff allows, a customer with a protected or medical status where the policy adds options, a customer enrolled in an assistance program (where the deposit may be waived instead), or a deposit on an account already in arrears goes to the credit desk in the Decision Desk with the request and only the allowed outcomes (the tariff schedule, an extended schedule where the tariff gives discretion, a waiver through its process, or refuse with the reasons).
Write back
The schedule is written to the billing system against the deposit record so each installment appears on the bill on its date, the deposit record tracks the amounts paid and the interest, a missed installment triggers the tariff's consequence by rule with the notice, and the customer receives the confirmation with the schedule.
Where it ends: The customer was offered the installments the tariff allows when the deposit was decided, accepted a schedule they read, and the billing system bills each installment and tracks the deposit toward its refund. The Decision Trace shows the computation and any decision; the Audit Trace shows the presentation, the acceptance and the write with time.
Runtime enforcement
What is enforcedwhile the work runs.
The regulations preloaded in Callvu Studio and the bank's own policies, applied as steps that run, not lines in a binder. A step that breaks a rule does not run, so a completed run was compliant.
The handoff
Between the front doorand the back office.
The front door
The screen where the deposit is decided, in any channel; the customer accepts on a secure screen.
The back office
The credit desk decides only requests beyond the tariff; billing runs the schedule.
The Decision Desk
- A request for more installments than the tariff allows, a protected or assistance-program customer, or a deposit on an account in arrears goes to the credit desk in the Decision Desk with the request and only the allowed outcomes.

Questions
What buyers ask next,answered plainly.
How many installments are allowed?
What the tariff provides, commonly two to four, with the first due with the start of service and the rest on the following bills; the schedule is computed and shown before the customer accepts.
What happens if an installment is missed?
The tariff's consequence applies by rule, shown to the customer in advance: the balance of the deposit becoming due or past-due treatment with the commission's notice rules.
Does the deposit still earn interest?
Yes. The deposit record in billing tracks the amounts paid and accrues the commission's interest rate toward the refund after good payment.
