Credit check, deposit and spending limit
How do we apply a credit decision at order so applicants below the threshold are offered a deposit or a spending limit by rule, and the adverse action notice goes out when the decision rests on the report?
Make the credit outcome a classification with a notice attached. When an application's credit result arrives, Callvu classifies it under the carrier's credit policy (approved, approved with a spending limit, approved with a deposit at the tier the policy sets, or declined), presents the offer to the applicant on their screen with the deposit amount or the limit and what it means, captures the acceptance and the deposit payment on a secure screen, routes a borderline result, a frozen file, a thin file or a dispute to the credit desk in the Decision Desk with only the allowed outcomes, generates the adverse action notice with the bureau's details whenever the deposit, the limit or the decline rests on the report, and writes the decision, the deposit and the limit to the BSS, the system of record. The problem today
The agent told the customer the deposit was 'because of the credit score', no notice went out, and the regulator's letter asked why.
A credit result that is not a clean approval puts the agent in a corner: explain a deposit or a limit without the training, take the deposit on the phone, and forget the notice the law requires. The customer hears an amount with no reason, pays or leaves, and the carrier has an adverse action it cannot show it noticed. The deposit tier was the agent's reading of a code.
The FCRA requires an adverse action notice when a consumer is denied, charged more or offered less favorable terms based in whole or in part on a consumer report, and ECOA's Regulation B adds the notice of action and the specific reasons where the carrier's arrangement is credit. The carrier's credit policy sets the tiers: the score bands, the deposit amounts, the spending limits, the exceptions. The classification is a rule, and the notice is a consequence of it.
A deposit offered by rule with its notice is a decision the carrier can defend and the customer can understand.
How it runs
From the requestto the system of record.
A credit result returns on a new account or a new line application (through the account opening or the new line process). Callvu classifies it.
- Applicant
- Sees the offer with the deposit or the limit explained, accepts, pays the deposit on a secure screen, and receives any notice.
- Agent
- Sees the classified outcome and the next step, not the raw report.
- Credit desk
- Decides borderline results, frozen or thin files and disputes in the Decision Desk.
- Callvu
- Classifies, presents, captures acceptance and payment, routes, generates the notice and writes.
Classify the result
The credit result (the score and the factors, a frozen or no-hit file, the fraud alerts, the carrier's internal history) is classified under the credit policy into the outcome: approved, approved with a spending limit at the policy's tier, approved with a deposit at the policy's tier, or declined; the applicable notice (adverse action under FCRA, the Reg B notice where the arrangement is credit) is determined by whether the outcome rests on the report.
Present and accept
The outcome is presented to the applicant on their screen in plain terms (the deposit amount and when it is returned, or the spending limit and how it works, or the decline), with the agent seeing the same; the applicant accepts, and a deposit is paid on a secure screen the agent never sees, through the payment process.
Decide exceptions
A borderline result at a tier boundary, a frozen file the applicant can lift, a thin file, an identity alert on the report, or an applicant's dispute of the result goes to the credit desk in the Decision Desk with the classification and only the allowed outcomes: apply the policy's tier, apply a different tier with the documented reason, hold for the applicant to lift the freeze or supply a document, or decline with the notice.
Notify and write back
The adverse action notice with the bureau's name and contact details, the key factors, the right to a free report and to dispute (and the Reg B statement of reasons where it applies) is generated and delivered where the outcome rests on the report; the decision, the deposit, the spending limit and the notice record are written to the BSS, the system of record, and the order continues with the account's conditions.
Where it ends: Every applicant below the threshold received the policy's deposit or limit by rule with the explanation, paid securely, and the notice the law requires went out and is on the record; the credit desk decided only the exceptions. The Decision Trace shows the classification, the tier and any decision; the Audit Trace shows the presentation, the acceptance, the payment and the notice with time.
Runtime enforcement
What is enforcedwhile the work runs.
The regulations preloaded in Callvu Studio and the bank's own policies, applied as steps that run, not lines in a binder. A step that breaks a rule does not run, so a completed run was compliant.
The handoff
Between the front doorand the back office.
The front door
Inside the account opening or the new line order, in any channel; the applicant accepts and pays on their secure screen.
The back office
The credit desk decides only exceptions; the notices and the BSS write run from the classification.
The Decision Desk
- A borderline result, a frozen or thin file, an identity alert or a disputed result goes to the credit desk in the Decision Desk with the classification and only apply the tier, apply a different tier with a reason, hold, or decline with the notice.

Questions
What buyers ask next,answered plainly.
When is an adverse action notice required?
Whenever a decline, a deposit, a spending limit or less favorable terms rest in whole or in part on the consumer report; the classification generates it automatically with the bureau's details and the consumer's rights.
How is the deposit amount set?
By the carrier's credit policy tiers from the result, by rule; the agent sees the outcome and the applicant sees the amount with the explanation and when it is returned.
What if the applicant's credit file is frozen?
The application holds for the applicant to lift the freeze, decided by the credit desk with the hold period, and the result is classified once it returns.
