Tax transcript authorization

How do we get the borrower's transcript request signed, obtain the IRS transcripts and match them to the tax returns in the file?

Sign, order, match. Callvu prefills the transcript request form for each borrower with the years the program requires, captures the signature on a secure screen, submits the request through the lender's income verification service, reads the transcripts when they return, matches the income lines to the tax returns in the file year by year, flags any difference, and files the transcripts and the match to the loan.

The problem today

The transcripts came back and sat in the file, and the returns the borrower gave were for a different filing.

Today, without Callvu

The processor gets the borrower to sign the transcript request on paper, sends it to the service, and files the transcripts when they return. Nobody compares them with the returns the borrower uploaded. The quality control reviewer does, and finds the wages differ by a figure that changes the ratios.

The programs require the transcripts, or the service's equivalent, as the independent check on the returns and the W-2s, for the years used to qualify. The match is the point; the transcript alone is a document.

The signature and the match are both one screen.

How it runs

From the requestto the system of record.

The document collection process requires tax transcripts for the years used to qualify. Callvu opens the transcript request for each borrower.

Borrower
Signs the transcript request on a secure screen.
Processor
Sees the order status and reviews only flagged differences.
Callvu
Prefills, captures the signature, orders, reads, matches and files.
  1. Prefill the request

The transcript request form is prefilled with the borrower's identifying details, the years the program requires and the transcript types, and presented for signature on a process-controlled screen; each borrower signs their own.

  2. Chase and verify the order

The signed request is submitted to the lender's income verification service; the order is tracked and the processor sees its status. A rejection (a mismatch in the borrower's details) is corrected with the borrower and resubmitted.

  3. Match the transcripts

The transcripts are read on return and the income lines (wages, business income, interest, adjustments) are matched year by year to the tax returns and W-2s in the file; a difference above the lender's tolerance is flagged with the two figures for the processor.

  4. Write back

The transcripts and the match results are filed to the loan in the LOS under the condition, which clears on a match or on the underwriter's acceptance of a flagged difference.

Where it ends: The transcripts are in the file, matched to the returns year by year, with any difference flagged and decided. The Decision Trace shows the years requested and the match; the Audit Trace shows the signature, the order and the return.

Runtime enforcement

What is enforcedwhile the work runs.

The regulations preloaded in Callvu Studio and the bank's own policies, applied as steps that run, not lines in a binder. A step that breaks a rule does not run, so a completed run was compliant.

The handoff

Between the front doorand the back office.

The front door

A secure screen for the borrower's signature; the service's order channel.

The back office

The processor sees status and flags; the underwriter decides differences.

The Decision Desk

  • A difference above tolerance between the transcripts and the returns goes to the underwriter in the Decision Desk with both figures and only the allowed outcomes.
