Credit card application

How do we take credit card applications online and in the branch so the decision, the disclosures and the adverse action notice all come from one record?

Run the application as one process from either door. Callvu prefills what the bank knows, captures the application and the consents, delivers the account-opening disclosures in the right order, runs the ability-to-pay and credit decision steps the bank's policy defines, routes what needs a person, and books the account or produces the adverse action notice from the same record. The problem today

The branch application and the online application are two different processes, and the adverse action notice comes from a third.

Today, without Callvu

Online, the applicant fills a form that feeds the decision engine. In the branch, the banker fills a different form and keys it in. The consent for the credit pull is a checkbox in one and a signature in the other. The decision is made in the card platform; the adverse action notice is produced by a letter system that gets its reasons from a nightly file.

Reg Z sets the disclosures an application must carry and the ability-to-pay consideration before an account is opened. Reg B gives 30 days from a completed application to notify the applicant and prescribes what an adverse action notice says. FCRA adds the consumer reporting agency details and the credit score disclosure. When three systems hold three pieces, nobody can show the examiner one record that proves the order.

Incomplete applications stall. A missing income figure or an unsigned consent sits until the applicant calls, and the Reg B clock has already started.

How it runs

From the requestto the system of record.

An applicant starts online, in the app, or with a banker in a branch. The same process opens from each door; an existing customer is identified and the application opens prefilled.

Applicant
Completes the application once, gives the consents, reads the disclosures, and receives the decision and any notice.
Credit decisioning
The bank's decision rules and, where a person must decide, the credit analyst in the Decision Desk.
Card operations
Books the approved account and sees every application with its decision and notice.
Callvu
Prefills, classifies, enforces consent before the pull, delivers disclosures in order, runs the automated decision steps, routes the rest, and writes the account or the notice.
  1. Prefill

For an existing customer, identity, contact details and existing relationships are prefilled from the core and the CRM. A new applicant enters each item once. Data validation runs on every field.

  2. Classify

The product and the applicant's situation set the required items: income and housing cost for ability to pay, a cosigner for an applicant under 21 without independent income, identification for CIP, and the disclosures the product requires.

  3. Application disclosures and consent

The application and solicitation disclosures (the rate and fee table) are shown before the applicant applies. The authorization for a consumer report, E-SIGN consent and the privacy notice are captured on a process-controlled screen, timestamped, before the report is requested.

  4. Decide

The consumer report is pulled, identity is verified under CIP, and the ability-to-pay consideration runs on the income and obligations given. The bank's decision rules approve, decline or refer. A referral goes to a credit analyst in the Decision Desk with the application, the report summary and only the allowed outcomes.

  5. Account-opening disclosures and acceptance

On approval, the account-opening disclosures are delivered and the applicant accepts the terms on a process-controlled screen with a timestamp, before the account is booked.

  6. Write back

An approved application books the account in the card system with the application, consents, report, decision and disclosures attached. A declined application produces the adverse action notice from the decision record, with the specific reasons, the consumer reporting agency details and the credit score disclosure, within the Reg B period.

Where it ends: The account is booked in the card system, or the adverse action notice is sent, from the same record that holds the application, the consents, the report, the decision and the disclosures with their timestamps. The Decision Trace shows the rules and the order; the Audit Trace shows every step and every person.

Runtime enforcement

What is enforcedwhile the work runs.

The regulations preloaded in Callvu Studio and the bank's own policies, applied as steps that run, not lines in a binder. A step that breaks a rule does not run, so a completed run was compliant.

The handoff

Between the front doorand the back office.

The front door

Online, in the app, with a banker in the branch, or started by an AI agent over MCP. Consents, identification and acceptance happen on process-controlled screens, never inside a chat.

The back office

Credit decisioning receives a complete application with its consents, report and ability-to-pay inputs. Card operations receives a booked account with its file. The letter system receives nothing to reconstruct: the notice comes from the record.

The Decision Desk

  • A referral goes to a credit analyst in the Decision Desk with the application, the report summary, the ability-to-pay result and only the allowed outcomes: approve, approve with a lower limit, counteroffer, or decline with reasons.
  • The analyst is nudged as the Reg B period runs, and the file shows how long it has waited.

Questions

What buyers ask next,answered plainly.

Is the branch application the same as the online one?

Yes. One process, one record, from either door. The banker sees the same prefilled application the applicant sees online, and nothing is keyed twice.

How is the credit pull consent enforced?

The authorization, the E-SIGN consent and the privacy notice are captured on a process-controlled screen and timestamped. Callvu blocks the report request until the authorization is recorded.

Where does the adverse action notice come from?

From the decision record: the specific reasons, the consumer reporting agency details and the credit score disclosure are produced from the same record that holds the decision, within the Reg B period.

Does Callvu make the credit decision?

No. The bank's decision rules run the automated steps; a referral goes to a credit analyst in the Decision Desk with only the allowed outcomes. The decision and who made it are in the Audit Trace.

What about an applicant under 21?

The classification requires independent ability to pay or a cosigner over 21, and the cosigner's consent is captured on a process-controlled screen before the decision.
