Loyalty redemption

How do we take a loyalty redemption request, check the points balance and the award rules, and book the redemption with the loyalty system updated?

Make the redemption a rule check the member sees before they commit. Callvu identifies the member with the authentication the program requires, prefills the account (the balance, the tier, the expiry dates, the eligible awards and the partners), takes the redemption request (the award, the dates, the travelers), checks it against the program terms (the points required at the award chart or the dynamic rate, the availability, the blackout and the travelers allowed, the tier benefits, the fees and the taxes due in cash), shows the member the cost and the rules before confirming, routes a redemption the rules flag (a new beneficiary, a high-value award shortly after a change of contact, a partner award with manual ticketing) to the loyalty desk in the Decision Desk, books the award, deducts the points, and writes the redemption to the loyalty system, the system of record, with the booking in the booking system.

The problem today

The member redeemed for a flight the agent booked at the wrong points rate, and the correction took three departments.

Today, without Callvu

Redemptions are where loyalty programs meet their members and their own rules at once: the award chart or the dynamic pricing, the availability, the partner rules, the blackout dates, the taxes and fees, the tier benefits, the expiry of the points being used. An agent books an award from memory; the points deducted do not match the rate; a partner award needs a ticket issued by another desk; the member calls back about a redemption the program cannot find.

The program terms are the contract with the member and the rules the regulators and the courts hold the program to. A redemption is a check of the request against them, a disclosure of the cost before the member commits, and a transaction the loyalty system must record with the booking it produced. Fraud rules add a second layer: a redemption after an account change is the classic takeover pattern.

A redemption the member confirmed with the cost in front of them is one the program can stand behind.

How it runs

From the requestto the system of record.

A member requests a redemption in the app, on the website, by phone or through an AI assistant. Callvu authenticates them and opens the redemption.

Member
Authenticates, chooses the award, sees the cost and the rules, and confirms.
Loyalty desk
Decides flagged redemptions and partner awards needing manual handling in the Decision Desk.
Callvu
Prefills, checks the rules, discloses, routes, books, deducts and writes.
  1. Prefill the account

The member's balance, the tier and its benefits, the points' expiry dates, the eligible award types and the partner programs, and any recent account changes (a new email, a new address, a password reset) are prefilled from the loyalty system after the authentication the program requires for a redemption.

  2. Check the award rules and disclose

The request (the award, the dates, the cabin or room, the travelers) is checked against the program terms: the points required at the chart or the dynamic rate, the availability, the blackout dates, who may travel on the award (the member, a family member, anyone, by the program), the tier benefits applied, the cash taxes and fees, the change and cancellation rules for the award and the points' refundability; the cost and the rules are shown to the member before they confirm.

  3. Decide

A redemption within the rules by an authenticated member with no flags proceeds by rule; a redemption the fraud rules flag (a high-value award within the policy's period after a change of contact or password, a new beneficiary, an unusual pattern), a partner award requiring manual ticketing, or a request to redeem points about to expire outside the normal path goes to the loyalty desk in the Decision Desk with the account and only the allowed outcomes (approve, require additional verification, book manually, or decline with the reason).

  4. Book, deduct and write back

The award is booked in the booking system with the cash taxes and fees paid on a secure screen, the points are deducted and the redemption is written to the loyalty system, the system of record, with the award's rules attached, the member receives the confirmation with the change and cancellation terms, and the booking carries the redemption reference for any later change or refund of points.

Where it ends: The member redeemed with the cost and the rules shown before confirming, the fraud and partner exceptions were decided by a person, and the loyalty system holds the deduction with the booking it produced. The Decision Trace shows the rule checks, the disclosure and any decision; the Audit Trace shows the authentication, the confirmation, the booking and the deduction with time.

Runtime enforcement

What is enforcedwhile the work runs.

The regulations preloaded in Callvu Studio and the bank's own policies, applied as steps that run, not lines in a binder. A step that breaks a rule does not run, so a completed run was compliant.

The handoff

Between the front doorand the back office.

The front door

The app, the website, a call or an AI assistant; the member confirms with the cost in front of them.

The back office

The loyalty desk sees only flags and manual awards; the loyalty and booking systems are written by the process.

The Decision Desk

  • A flagged redemption, a partner award needing manual ticketing or an expiring-points exception goes to the loyalty desk in the Decision Desk with the account and only approve, re-verify, book manually, or decline with the reason.
