Product registration

How do we let a customer register a product once after purchase with the order data prefilled, and write it to the warranty system so recalls and claims find them?

Make registration a one-tap step from the order rather than a form. Callvu identifies the customer from the order confirmation or a code on the product, prefills the registration from the order record (the product, the model and serial where captured at sale, the purchase date, the retailer, the customer's contacts), asks only for what the order does not hold (the serial from a photo of the label for products serialized after sale, the installation address for an installed product, the contact preferences for safety notices), applies the rules (registration is voluntary and never a condition of warranty coverage; the safety notice contact is kept separate from marketing consent), and writes the registration to the warranty system, the system of record for recalls and claims, with the customer told what it is for.

The problem today

The recall notice went to the retailer's marketing list; the owners who had opted out of marketing never heard about the fire risk.

Today, without Callvu

Product registration is a card in the box or a form on the website that asks the customer to retype what the retailer already knows, and most do not. The result is a registry that covers a fraction of the products sold. When a recall comes, the brand cannot reach the owners, and the recall notices go to whoever is on a marketing list, which is the wrong list.

Registration has a purpose the law recognizes: for durable infant products the manufacturer must provide a registration program so owners can be reached for recalls, and the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act forbids making registration a condition of warranty coverage. The data the registration needs is mostly in the order; the serial is a photo; the contact for safety notices is a choice the customer should make separately from marketing.

A registration prefilled from the order is one the customer completes, and a registry that is complete is one that saves a recall.

How it runs

From the requestto the system of record.

An order ships or is delivered, a customer scans a code on the product or in the manual, or a customer registers from the website or the app. Callvu identifies the customer and the product and opens the registration.

Customer
Confirms the prefilled data, adds the serial or the installation address, chooses the safety notice contact, and submits.
Brand or retailer warranty team
Decides registrations that do not match the order or the registry in the Decision Desk.
Callvu
Prefills, asks only what is missing, applies the rules, routes mismatches and writes.
  1. Prefill from the order

The product, the model, the serial captured at sale, the purchase date and the retailer, and the customer's contacts are prefilled from the order record (for a registration from a product code, the order is matched by the customer's account or the receipt); the registration states what it is for (recalls and safety notices, faster claims) and that it is voluntary and not a condition of the warranty.

  2. Complete what is missing

The serial number is read from a photo of the label where it was not captured at sale, the installation address is taken for an installed or large product, and the customer chooses the contact for safety notices (kept separate from any marketing consent, which has its own process); the entries are validated (the serial's format for the product line, the address).

  3. Check and route

The serial is checked against the product line and the registry (a serial already registered to another owner, a serial outside the line's range, a product reported stolen) and a mismatch goes to the warranty team in the Decision Desk with the order and the registry record and only the allowed outcomes (register, register with a transfer of ownership, or decline with the reason).

  4. Write back

The registration with the serial, the purchase date, the owner's safety contact and the installation address is written to the warranty system, the system of record for recalls and claims, linked to the order in the order management system, and the customer receives the confirmation with the warranty term and how to make a claim.

Where it ends: The product was registered from the order with one or two additions, voluntarily and separately from marketing, and the warranty system holds a record a recall and a claim can find. The Decision Trace shows the prefill, the checks and any decision; the Audit Trace shows the submission and the write.

Runtime enforcement

What is enforcedwhile the work runs.

The regulations preloaded in Callvu Studio and the bank's own policies, applied as steps that run, not lines in a binder. A step that breaks a rule does not run, so a completed run was compliant.

The handoff

Between the front doorand the back office.

The front door

The order confirmation, a code on the product, the website or the app; the customer finishes in a tap or two.

The back office

The warranty team decides only mismatches; the registry fills itself from orders.

The Decision Desk

  • A serial already registered to another owner, outside the line's range, or reported stolen goes to the warranty team in the Decision Desk with the order and the registry record and only register, register with a transfer, or decline with the reason.

Questions

What buyers ask next,answered plainly.

Does the customer have to register to keep the warranty?

No. The Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act forbids conditioning coverage on registration, and the screen says so; registration exists so recalls and claims reach the owner faster.

What is prefilled?

The product, the model and serial captured at sale, the purchase date, the retailer and the customer's contacts from the order; the customer adds a serial photo or an installation address where needed.

Is the registration used for marketing?

Not without separate consent; the safety notice contact is kept apart from marketing consent, which has its own process.
